Through my recent studies through a class I took which was a Human Service class, I never really realized how many kids were either being neglected or abused and yet still being put back into the hands of their abusers. Despite all of their attempts to get the help that they need to get better, I feel that the mother, father or whoever for that matter abuses the child should not be able to be around that child again. This is a disease that just does not go away over night. And the system wonders why we still continue to have a large number of kids still being abused. Neglect is a type of maltreatment that refers to the failure by the caregiver to provide needed, age appropriate care although finacially able to do so or is offered finacial or other means to do so. With child neglect there is four types of neglect know which are physical neglect, educational neglect, emotional neglect and medical neglect. And this is why child neglect is one of the most prevalent forms of child maltreatment in the United States.

Anna, there is no true collaboration between the legal and medical communities concerning child neglect. The legal community expects us to report suspicions of abuse, yet they almost always deem the parents as being the primary candidates for guardianship without much investigation of their own, probably due the additional costs involved. Advocates for the medical community become frustrated at standardized court decisions which use outdated guidelines and standards for child care to formulate their decisions. It’s a sad story, but often the child must survive that period of their life and then often become abusers themselves or even worse, become sociopathic adversaries to society, which often incurs a higher price that it would have been if a more thorough investigation would have been taken the first place, before the mental trauma became emplaced, and then permanently damaging a slew of citizens with a domino type of repercussions in the future . What is normal, who is normal, the nation’s morals have degraded to this point of humane care because of the costs involved, why don’t they just print up some more money, that’s what they are doing to salvage other high interest dilemmas.
